Silverchair frontman and solo musician Daniel Johns treated punters at triple j's Beat The Drum 40th anniversary celebration in Sydney yesterday with an emotional cover of Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit.
The veteran Australian muso stripped back the Seattle band's signature song, singing his heart out while playing the piano and accompanied by a harp. The Domain crowd seemed to enjoy Johns' rendition and of course sang along in parts — it seemed a pretty fitting cover with Smells Like Teen Spirit came in at number one in triple j's Hottest 100 Of All Time a few years back and given Silverchair's history with the youth broadcaster.
