“As you should all know by now, there is an actual war where we live."

It’s usually illness, injury or other unforeseen circumstances that see bands cancel shows last minute, but Israeli punks Useless ID had to yesterday cancel an appearance at Riez Festival in Germany due to the ongoing Israel-Gaza conflict.

The punk rockers, who toured Australia last year on the back of their Fat Wreck debut Symptoms, have taken to Facebook over the past couple of days to keep fans up to date on their travels.

“We NEVER cancel a show, and so we're very sad to announce that because of the circumstances - we will not be there tonight to party with everyone.
“As you should all know by now, there is an actual war where we live.

“Recent escalation of terror and madness has caused a situation where international airlines (like the one that was supposed to take our asses on tour) has cancelled their stops in Israel, and therefore we're ALL, for a lack of a better term - STUCK here.”

Frequently discussing the war on their home ground onstage, they’ve also penned numerous songs about it, including 2005’s State Of Fear.

“Some may say it has been going for X amount of days, some may say years...
We believe that this horrible, terrible situation had started in 1948 and never really got anywhere near the hopeful, positive or the peaceful,” the Facebook post said.

Despite cancelling their festival appearance, the band has managed to keep the rest of their European dates, which kick off early next week in Milan, Italy.
