American duo The Brother Brothers may have just started their Australian tour, but the rest of the tour is off after a harrowing incident.

Comprising brothers David and Adam Moss, The Brother Brothers have made waves across the globe with their acoustic-based music packed with gorgeous vocal harmonies. They were touring Australia and scheduled to perform at the Port Fairy Folk Festival, Blue Mountains Music Festival, and the Yackandandah Music Festival.

The duo announced that the tour was off yesterday (6 March), revealing that David passed out in the water while swimming and nearly drowned. As a result of the terrifying incident, The Brother Brothers are hoping to find out why David passed out and look after his health.

“We’re sorry to announce that we need to cancel the remaining dates here in Australia,” the duo wrote in a statement.

“What we can tell you at this point is that David passed out in the water and nearly drowned. He was rushed to the emergency room and although he is stable and back to his old self, we are still trying to ascertain why he passed out.

“While we wait for more answers, we ask that in the place of questions you send prayers, well wishes, and general niceties. We’ll update you when we know more, which will hopefully be quite soon once he’s transferred from Coffs Harbour to Newcastle.”

The duo continued, “I’ll also note that the Australian health care system is a shining beacon to be admired and striven toward, and we can’t thank them enough for all their loving care and excellence in their fields so far.

“Back with more. Much Love, Adam and David.”

The American twins are touring Australia following the release of their full-length, The January Album, released last April. Recorded in January 2021, David said the album is “basically an ode to the time we had time to take time.”

Adam added, “Almost all of the songs were written in NYC during those first few months of the Covid lockdowns and tumultuous police protests in the city. It was important to capture the zeitgeist but also just as important not to dwell on it in the music.”
