Buchanan brings with him more than 10 years of industry experience
Brent 'Quincy' Buchanan
Industry veteran Brent "Quincy" Buchanan has been named as Universal Music Australia's new senior A&R manager, giving him purview over the signing and development of artists for Island, Casablanca, Lost Highway and UMA's record labels.
Buchanan will take up the post effective immediately, and will be based out of Sydney, reporting to UMA's managing director Michael Taylor and working alongside A&R manager Chris White. He joins the company with more than 10 years of experience under his belt, including three years as A&R manager for Warner Music Australasia from 2005-2008 — a position in which he signed and developed an array of now-acclaimed artists including Ladyhawke and Children Collide.
Upon leaving Warner, Buchanan founded The Grindhouse, a video production company that, over the past eight years, has been responsible for creating cutting-edge content for an array of A-list artists such as John Farnham, Katy Perry, Hilltop Hoods, Metallica, Mumford & Sons and more, as well as corporate clients including Google, Red Bull and Destination NSW. Clearly, UMA will benefit from his presence — a fact of which they seem acutely aware.
"We are excited to have Quincy join UMA’s A&R team," Taylor effused in a statement. "His top knowledge, skill and ears are already very well respected in the industry, and his recent experience as a successful entrepreneur have now further honed those chops.
