Government officials have confirmed the postponement.

UPDATE 7 MARCH:

Miami's Ultra Music Festival has now been officially postponed until March 2021.

Miami Mayor Francis Suarez confirmed that coronavirus was the cause in a press conference.

"We're emphasising to the public that this decision is not a cause for alarm or panic, but rather that we are doing it with an abundance of caution," Billboard reports Suarez said.

"We are obtaining this guidance from the CDC, which defines mass gatherings as those with 25,000 people or more."

The festival has also released a statement.

"It is with a heavy heart that we inform you that The City of Miami has issued an official directive requiring that the 22nd edition of Ultra Music Festival, originally scheduled for March 20, 21 and 22, 2020 will be postponed to March 26, 27 and 28, 2021," Executive Producer Adam Russakoff wrote.

"Due to the Florida Governor’s declaration of a public health emergency and Centers Of Disease Control And Prevention’s Interim Guidance for COVID-19, it is impossible for the City to provide access to Bayfront Park at this time. We completely understand how extremely frustrating this is because so many of you are looking forward to coming to Ultra, having already made travel arrangements. This is, however, an unprecedented issue which is not being taken lightly, and we must continue to defer to the authorities for guidance.

"Ultimately, there is no higher priority for us than the health, safety and physical wellbeing of each of you, together with everyone else involved in the production of the event. We sincerely thank you for your continued loyalty and patience during this difficult time. All ticket purchasers will be contacted by email on Monday regarding next steps."

The festival has not released an official statement however City Commissioner Manolo Reyes told Miami Herald, “The decision was made to postpone it."

The news comes following the cancellation of the Abu Dhabi leg.

Ultra Australia told The Music yesterday that the Abu Dhabi cancellation would not impact the Australian shows, due to go ahead this weekend.

"Ultra Australia will be going ahead as scheduled, a spokesperson said.

"We look forward to two huge shows in both Sydney and Melbourne this weekend."
