Melbourne and Brisbane are about to be home to a new music event called Converge Festival.

Converge, an event set to host live alternative music, tattoos, fashion, booze, and DJ’s, will be welcomed as a brand-new day festival this September. The festival will take over Brisbane on Sunday, 7 September, and Melbourne on Sunday, 14 September.

The festival’s website teases a “new cultural experience for alt music fans” that will combine live music with culture for an “immersive experience.” Organisers also state that Converge “fills a gap in the market” by offering an affordable, thrilling mini-festival.

The event is set to host local musical talent as well as installations from Australian fashion brands, tattoo artists, DJ’s, artist signings, and more.

“Converge Festival is committed to providing fans with something more than just a music event by bringing the community together in a unique way and creating an experience that will stay with attendees for life,” the statement on the festival’s website continues.

The line-up is set to land this Wednesday, 25 June. However, according to festival organisers who shared some hints with Wall of Sound, you may hear some more about the event on triple j tomorrow (24 June).

By signing up for the Converge festival mailing list, you’ll be the first to gain access to tickets, giveaways, meet-and-greet passes, and more. You can sign up for pre-sale tickets here. You can also follow Converge festival on Facebook and Instagram.

A new alternative music festival is welcome, as New Bloom Festival is currently one of the only other events representing emo and alternative rock music.

That event, however, also stars international bands. Last year’s inaugural line-up included Citizen, Touché Amoré, and Movements, and this year’s follow-up featured Basement, Balance And Composure, Sweet Pill, Drain, and more.
