Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider has taken to Twitter to claim that politician Clive Palmer and his Palmer United Party were aware of licensing fees surrounding the use of their track, We're Not Gonna Take It and proceeded to record a cover regardless.

The claim comes just days after the band's Jay Jay French took to Twitter to share that "Twisted Sister does not endorse Australian politician Clive Palmer, never heard of him and was never informed of Clive Palmer's use of a re-written version of our song We're Not Gonna Take It."

"We receive no money from its use and we are investigating how we can stop it."

Snider has today shared that "@CliveFPalmer @PalmerUtdParty contacted my publishing company @UMG about licensing the song (which means they were aware that they had to) were told the licensing fee...THEN WENT OFF AND RECORDED IT WITHOUT A LICENSE!

Palmer yesterday threatened to sue the rock outfit, saying that "If [Twisted Sister] attempt to use my lyrics in any of their songs, I'll not hesitate to take legal proceedings against them.

"I wrote the words personally that appear on our promotion and hold the copyright for those words."

Palmer is yet to respond to Snider's licensing claim. Snider will be in Australia later this month for his SPOKEN and SHOUTED! solo shows, check out theGuide below for more info.
