This could get interesting.

Barely a day after members of Twisted Sister called out Clive Palmer for using a re-written version of their hit song, We're Not Gonna Take It, in a TV advertisement, the Australian politician has returned serve and threatened to sue the rock outfit.

Frontman Dee Snider and guitarist Jay Jay French both tweeted that they did not give Palmer permission to use the 1984 song in his campaign and had contacted their legal team, however the United Australia Party leader has refused to back down.

"I wrote the words personally that appear on our promotion and hold the copyright for those words," Palmer told Sydney Morning Herald.

In the TV ad, the lyrics of the chorus have been changed to, "Australia ain't gonna cop it, no Australia's not gonna cop it, Aussies not gonna cop it any more."

Palmer continued, "If [Twisted Sister] attempt to use my lyrics in any of their songs, I'll not hesitate to take legal proceedings against them.

"As foreigners, they should stay out of Australian domestic politics and stay where they are. Aussies are not going to cop it at all!"

Palmer also took a direct shot at Snider, who is set to tour Australia in the coming weeks, claiming ticket sales are slow.

"This is understandable given how long ago they had any influence in the world of music," Palmer said.
