"I believe in people before profit, I believe we can create a liveable city."
Australian DJ and music industry figure Trina Massey has today announced she is running for the Greens in the seat of Central at next year's Brisbane City Council election.
Massey (aka DJ Black Amex), also serves as the Professional Development Manager at the Association of Artist Managers (AAM) and previously worked as Program Manager for QMusic.
Central Ward encapsulates Brisbane's famous entertainment district, Fortitude Valley, where Massey initially began her career as a venue booker.
"I believe in people before profit, I believe we can create a liveable city, I believe the Central Ward is the entertainment and cultural heart of Brisbane and we should strengthen these communities and the local economy," Massey said.
"I am proud to be from Brisbane and believe with your help, we can make sure the community is represented in council."
As well as her work with AAM and QMusic, Massey also previously worked as the label head for Brisbane's Smack Face Records, which currently boasts a roster with names like San Mei, The Growlers and LA Witch.
The Brisbane City Council election will go ahead in early 2020.
