Hot young indie bands and happening club DJs inhabit two fresh new Valley venues.
A brand new space for live music and a whole stack of some of the brightest young bands in the country to christen it; if all goes to plan, Brisbane audiences are certainly in for a treat with the forthcoming Track & Field event, which was announced this morning.
Track & Field has been running (that is not an intended pun) in Brisbane for a couple of years now. The brainchild of Amplifire's Stu McCullough and Mucho Bravado's Ben Preece, the event has booked some cracking acts in past instalments and the 2013 edition is no different.
Alpine, The Jungle Giants, Dune Rats and Asta complete the live music component, while there will also be DJ sets from Millions, Cub Scouts, Treats DJs, Teen Girls and Pony Club DJs.
But what is just as exciting for Brisbane live music lovers is the fact that the show will take place in a couple of locations that aren't very often used for the purposes of this kind of music. There will be one stage situated behind The Rev in an alleyway, where the bands will be playing, and the DJs will set up shop inside nightclub (and BIGSOUND showcase venue) Electric Playground.

"We worked hard to find this location and put together a cracking line up," McCullough says of the event. "We have some of the best bands kicking around at the moment and a stack of Brisbane's finest club DJ's. It's going to be fun"
"This feels like a truly great event - we can't wait to show you the exciting new space we're using - an alley behind The Rev as well as incorporating Electric Playground the venue and its surrounds - it's going to be rather incredible," Preece adds.
The show takes place Friday 26 April from 7.30pm and you can snap up earlybird tickets (at $35 a pop) from OzTix as of 9am Friday morning!
