More Tones & I More Tones & I

2019 is officially the year of Tones & I.

The Byron Bay-based artist’s global megahit Dance Monkey has held onto the top spot on the UK Singles chart for 11 weeks, meaning Tones & I now holds the record for most weeks at #1 on the chart by a female artist.

The previous record was held by Rihanna’s Umbrella (2007) and Whitney Houston’s I Will Always Love You (1992), both of which spent 10 weeks at #1.

Last week, Tones & I claimed the title of longest-running #1 song from an Australian artist on the UK charts from Olivia Newton-John, who held the record since 1978 with You're The One That I Want (recorded with John Travolta) from the Grease soundtrack.

The new UK record arrives a month after the local singer-songwriter rewrote ARIA chart history with the single, which is still at #1 in Australia.
