The Voice Australia has made its return for season 10 and seems a lot of people are interested.

According to figures from TV Tonight, the reality singing competition drew in an impressive 1,329,000 viewers, landing at #2 across the entire evening.

Significantly, the program rated higher than the Olympics closing ceremony which came in at #3 with 1,291,000 viewers.

The growth on previous seasons is impressive too, with 1.01 million viewers tuning in for the premiere of both the 2019 and 2018 seasons. In fact, this is the biggest ratings result for the program - which has moved from Nine to Seven this year - since the 2015 season.

While it's an impressive debut for the 2021 season, it will be interesting to see the show's results without the Olympics coverage as a lead in and out for the rest of the season.

The first episode of the season saw the introduction of this year's Blind Auditions - where performers perform with the judges backs to them in the hopes of spinning their chair and getting through to the next round - and saw Bella Taylor Smith, Sofia Watt, Olivia Vasquez, Drew Walker, Byron Garn, Darren Constable and Joey Chan all audition.

In recent seasons, we've seen some well-known names appear in the Blind Auditions including WA loop artist Sam Perry (who went on to win his season), Wasabi singer Lee Harding, Jesse Teinaki who had previously won the chance to open for Bon Jovi, indie roots artist (and brother of Aussie actor and singer Clare Bowen) Timothy James Bowen, Hi-5's Nathan Foley, and coach Guy Sebastian's brother Chris Sebastian who had previously competed in The Voice Australia in season one and went on to win the 2020 season.

This year sees host Sonia Kruger return, accompanied by a brand new judging panel line-up, with Guy Sebastian returning for his third season, Keith Urban returning (following his stint on the program back in its inaugural season in 2012) and some new judging panel faces courtesy of Jessica Mauboy and Rita Ora.

The Music team have put together a breakdown on this season and the show's history, including all the winners and where they are now. Head here to check it out.

The Voice Australia continues tonight on Seven from 7.30pm, airing Sunday, Monday and Tuesday each week.
