"I hate that people like that have a platform to spread fear."
The Veronicas are the latest music act to slam homophobic comments made by Margaret Court, saying that that the tennis legend's words are coming from "a place of fear".
Speaking to News Corp, Jessica Origliasso, attributed Court's comments, in which she said that "[The LGBT community] can do what they want to do… just don't touch the definition in a Bible marriage," to an outdated view.
"There's some members of the older generation who have been conditioned with such closed minds," Origliasso, who is currently dating actress and DJ Ruby Rose, said.
"They're coming from a place of fear which is honestly very sad. I hate that people like that have a platform to spread fear.
"She can hide behind religion all she wants, but religion exists for a better life for all. The thing that is most conducive of that better life for all is love, acceptance, understanding and being yourself. Anyone that continues to spread hate or fear or judgment or phobias doesn't deserve a platform."
Origliasso's comments come barely a week after Icelandic outfit Sigur Rós weighed in on the controversy, as they are scheduled to play at Margaret Court Arena next month.
"We know Margaret Court's opinions are not shared by the majority of Australians," the band said in a statement.

"We want to add our voice to the call for marriage equality in Australia — right here on Margaret Court Arena itself. Australia should be a country that celebrates positivity and inclusion, as well as achievement on the sporting field."
