Do you love the idea of a rave but can’t stand the idea of being out all night partying in your thirties? A touring club night is testing out a new way of partying called Day Shift.

Taking place throughout November, from 4 pm until 9 pm, the club night will hit cities including Sydney, Melbourne and Perth and has announced you can be home by 11 pm. No DJ line-up has been announced yet, but tickets to the daytime clubbing event are available from dayshiftparty.com.

“Day Shift is a party for the 30+ generation who want the unmatched energy of a club, but detest the idea of being out past midnight,” an announcement post on Sydney’s Metro Theatre’s Facebook reads.

Set to include DJs, dancers, disco balls, confetti showers, and more, Day Shift promises the fun of a nightclub, but during the day. Punters can expect the “biggest 80s/90s/00s tunes all day long.”

Last year, Freaky Friday actress Jamie Lee Curtis made headlines after she advocated for matinee stadium shows, revealing that she had declined invitations to events such as an Oscars nominee dinner because she was too sleepy for that.

“Why? Because mommy goes to bed early. Because 7:30 is gonna be nine before we get food, and you know what? There’s nothing good happening with me after nine o’clock. Nothing. Zero,” she said.

Then Curtis devised a pitch that could change the entertainment world as we know it: “I am gonna just say this now as a taunt and as a suggestion. U2: do a matinee. Coldplay: do a matinee.”

She continued, “What about a 12 noon concert, Coldplay? What about it? Bruce Springsteen: do a fucking matinee! You’re old! Why wouldn’t you let me come see you, Bruce Springsteen, in your glory days – pun intended – and do it at noon or one o’clock? Two o’clock! Two o’clock matinee!

“Theatre in New York, two o’clock! I will come and hear your five-hour concert, Bruce, at two o’clock, and I’m gonna be home and in bed by 7:30.”

Matinee shows are on the rise here in Australia too, with local acts including Cash Savage And The Last Drinks, RocKwiz Live, and Ross Wilson including early gigs on their recent tours.
