50 Cent’s long-teased documentary series about the fall and allegations of sexual abuse against Sean “Diddy” Combs has finally received a release date, and it’s coming sooner than you think.
In December 2023, 50 Cent confirmed that his production company, G-Unit Film & Television, would produce a documentary about Diddy and the allegations, and proceeds would go to survivors of sexual assault. A few months later, he revealed the project was going ahead.
On Tuesday (25 November), Netflix confirmed that the four-part docuseries, Sean Combs: The Reckoning, would land on the streaming platform next week (2 December).
The documentary will examine the sexual assault and abuse allegations against Diddy, as well as the music mogul’s recent federal conviction on prostitution charges. The Reckoning will star Diddy’s former associates, friends, fellow artists, and employees.
50 Cent is an executive producer of the documentary, directed by Alexandria Stapleton.
In a statement, 50 Cent said of the long-awaited docuseries (per Billboard), “I’ve been committed to real storytelling for years through G-Unit Film and Television. I’m grateful to everyone who came forward and trusted us with their stories, and proud to have Alexandria Stapleton as the director on the project to bring this important story to the screen.”

Stapleton added that she found inspiration in the #MeToo movement, Cassie Ventura dropping her lawsuit, and how the public processes allegations against celebrities in a fair manner.
“Being a woman in the industry, and going through the #MeToo movement — watching giants in music and film go on trial, and to know what their outcomes were … When Cassie dropped her lawsuit, I just thought this could go a million different directions,” Stapleton said.
“I wondered how she had the confidence to go out there against a mogul like Sean Combs. As a filmmaker, I instantly knew it was a stress test of whether we’ve changed as a culture, as far as being able to process allegations like this in a fair way.”
Stapleton continued: “This isn’t just about the story of Sean Combs or the story of Cassie, or the story of any of the victims, or the allegations against him, or the trial. Ultimately, this story is a mirror [reflecting us] as the public, and what we are saying when we put our celebrities on such a high pedestal. I hope [this documentary] is a wake-up call for how we idolise people, and to understand that everybody is a human being.”
50 Cent and Diddy have been embroiled in a feud for decades, with 50 Cent alleging that Diddy knew who shot and killed the Notorious B.I.G. in his 2006 track The Bomb. He shared the same insinuations as recently as December 2023.
The pair have mocked each other in the media for many years, with 50 Cent previously stating that he doesn’t attend Diddy’s parties as he “hugs you from the front and the back at the same time”.
