Sydney live music room Valve is moving closer to the heart of the city's CBD as its current home in Tempe is put on the market.

A regular host of live music, Valve is currently housed in Tempe's The Harp Hotel but have revealed today that it will move to the Agincourt Hotel.

Valve's Greg Nusinovitsch said, “Our Tempe home has been fun, but with constant complaints about the remote location from all bands/promoters/organisers, less than supportive neighbours, and regret that we don't have a late license we all knew it was hardly perfect.”

The decision comes as their Tempe venue has been listed for sale through Ray White Hotels. The agents point out that the ground floor of the venue – which is listed with no venue name – is currently operated as a live music venue, but say that it would be suitable for a sports bar, traditional bar or small bar set-up.

The Agincourt has a 4am license and Valve is expected to utilise all three levels of the venue – the 150 capacity basement room is expected to be the primary stage, the classic pub level likely to be used for bigger bills and dance events as it boasts a capacity of 200, while the 70 capacity upstairs level houses a permanent DJ podium and secondary stage.

All levels will be feature Valve's projection set-up, with the basement stage performances to be screened live to screens in other levels of the hotel.

“We're so excited that we were able to secure this great location that will help all bands, promoters, organisers to get bigger and better turnouts, promote shows and events at nearby TAFE and Unis, offer attendees easy access to public transport from all parts of Sydney, be in close proximity to other food/nightlife for before or after the show, and finally give us the ability to have proper late parties across three levels with a 4am license,” Nusinovitsch said.

Usually catering to Sydney's underground and alternative rock and metal scenes with shows five nights a week, all shows and events currently booked will carry through to the new venue. The Agincourt is expected to host its first Valve show Wednesday 28 August.
