The long-awaited sequel to the iconic This Is Spinal Tap lands in cinemas later this month (25 September), but this week, the soundtrack was released.
Spinal Tap II: The End Continues arrives with a 12-song soundtrack album which contains nine new songs, plus re-recordings of “classic” Spinal Tap songs. The album also features collaborations with Paul McCartney and Elton John.
The End Continues is the fictional rock band’s fourth album and marks their first release since 2009’s Back From The Dead.
The album contains a re-recorded track, Stonehenge, featuring Elton John, which was released in late July.
First single Stonehenge was initially included in the fictional group’s 1984 debut album, This Is Spinal Tap, but without John. Its new release accompanies the This Is Spinal Tap sequel, Spinal Tap II: The End Continues.

Spinal Tap II: The End Continues finds the fictional comedy rockers preparing for their final reunion concert.
The band members, David St. Hubbins (portrayed by Michael McKean), Nigel Tufnel (Christopher Guest), and Derek Smalls (Harry Shearer) are placed firmly in the modern day, making jokes about Stormy Daniels, references to cryptocurrency, and, of course, the admission that eleven of their drummers have died.
The development of the sequel was first announced in May 2022. In November 2023, director Rob Reiner announced that Paul McCartney, Elton John, and Garth Brooks were set to make cameo appearances as themselves. Additional stars set to appear in the film include Questlove and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, and Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich.
