Here's how 'Spicks & Specks' and Amy Shark on '60 Minutes' fared in last night's TV ratings.

On a rocky night of free-to-air TV, music stories fared okay, with nearly one million Aussies tuning in to watch local music-related shows on Sunday.

Continuing to hold up well in what might be one of the biggest prime time fights ever, ABC’s Spicks & Specks, featuring Amyl & The Sniffers’ Amy Taylor, Tom Ballard and more, drew 530,000 viewers, as reported by TV Tonight.

The beloved ABC music offering came in fourth in its timeslot, beaten by juggernauts LEGO Masters Australia (811,000), MasterChef Australia (592,000) and Big Brother (534,000).

Spicks & Specks made a huge return last month, with the new season’s premiere drawing in an impressive 665,000 viewers despite being up against Nine's Married At First Sight season final.

Last November it was announced that the show would return for a limited run with it later revealed that 10 episodes would be included.

"Some people made banana bread in lockdown. We made a new series of Spicks & Specks," said Adam Hills when the show's official return was announced.

Meanwhile, an additional 464,000 caught Amy Shark’s interview with 60 Minutes over on the Nine Network.

60 Minutes came in second during its timeslot, only surpassed by MasterChef Australia.

Last week, Amy Shark appeared on The Green Room With Neil Griffiths podcast to speak about her new album, Cry Forever.

During the interview, she discussed the long-awaited follow-up to debut album Love Monster and her latest single, Amy Shark, which has received critical acclaim, saying it's her most personal song to date.

So much so, Shark isn't sure yet if the song will make the setlist on her upcoming arena tour of Australia - click here for more details on the tour.

Also on free-to-air TV across the weekend, Genesis Owusu and The Chats teamed up for a cover of Psycho Killer by Talking Heads on ABC live music show The Set, which you can check out below.
