Speculation Mounts Around New 'Matrix' Film But Don't Get Too Excited Just Yet

Please just make this happen.

Speculation surrounding a fourth installment in The Matrix series has kicked off once again but reports that the film's creators, Lana and Lilly Wachowski, are attached has already been dismissed.

John Wick 3 director and former The Matrix stunt coordinator Chad Stahelski appeared to confirm in an interview with Yahoo Movies UK that the Wachowskis are involved in the proposed fourth film.

“I’m super happy that the Wachowskis are not just doing a Matrix, but they’re expanding what we all loved,” Stahelski said.

“And if it’s anywhere near the level of what they’ve already done, it wouldn’t take more than a call to go, ‘Hey, we want you to be a stunt guy’ and I would probably go and get hit by a car."

However according to Slash Film, a representative for Stahelski said his comments were in response to a hypothetical scenario where the Wachowskis would be involved.

Regardless, John Wick and The Matrix lead actor Keanu Reeves again reiterated to Yahoo Movies UK that he would be on board to reprise Neo should the Wachowskis return.

“That would be a gift,” Reeves said.

“I wouldn’t say no to that. Yeah.”

Warner Bros have reportedly been working on a new Matrix film for some time, with The Hollywood Reporter saying in 2017 that Michael B Jordan was attached to star.

The Matrix franchise is one of the highest-grossing to date and has generated over $3 billion in revenue.
