Paramore take over from BMTH, with Stone Sour at four
American pop punk outfit Paramore have taken their first number one album on the ARIA Album Chart this week, taking over from last week's number one Bring Me The Horizon, with both bands appearing on the Soundwave festival earlier this year.
Last week theMusic.com.au tipped Paramore for the top spot and the American trio's self-titled fourth album held off Passenger's All The Little Lights, which once again falls just short of the top spot (his single, Let Her Be, holds the number one spot on the Singles Chart again this week). Paramore's previous best was their third record Brand New Eyes, which peaked at 15 in 2009. Another American outfit who appeared on this year's Soundwave Stone Sour debuted at four with their latest record House Of Gold & Bones Part 2, which is also their best Australian chart position. Back in 2010 Audio Secrecy peaked at six while House Of Gold & Bones Part 1 managed 13 in November 2012.
James Blake's Overgrown debuted at five while the top local debut came from 22-year-old rapper Allday, with his EP Loners Are Cool which was released through teamtrick/MGM and has entered its second pressing after being released earlier this month. His track So Good ranked 91 in the triple j Hottest 100 earlier this year.
It was also another big week for Russell Morris with his latest album Smarkmouth continuing to be his most successful – in terms of chart performance – of his 60-year career. After being released in October last year and giving him his first top ten ever last week it has risen to six this week and remains the top-ranking Australian release.

Last week Morris told theMusic, “People get pigeonholed after a while, you carry your past around with you like baggage. What happened, when it was released people were expecting more of the same… but there were a few believers running around yelling, 'Go and listen to this album, it's really different'… A lot of people hadn't listened to it because they had pre-conceived ideas – and I don't blame them!”
Bruno Mars' Logies performance pushed Unorthodox Jukebox back up to three (with previous record Doo-Wops & Hooligans re-entered at 28) while The xx's recent tour brought their album Coexist back into the top 50 at 16 and The Script's tour pushed their latest album #3 back into the charts at 17. On a promotional tour, Olly Murs' Right Place Right Time re-entered at its new peak of 27.
American stadium-country sibling band The Band Perry debuted at 37 with Pioneer while Splendour In The Grass-bound Cold War Kids' latest Dear Miss Lonelyhearts entered in 49.
The ARIA Singles Chart top three remained static this week with Passenger's Let Her Go at one, Mtko's Thank You second again and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' Can't Hold Us at three. Locals Stafford Brothers featuring Lil Wayne and Christina Milian bulleted to four with the next local coming in the form of The Voice reality TV contestant Harrison Craig's Broken Now. It is the first real chart impact for the show's second season after their complete take-over of the singles chart with season one.
