Soundcloud are testing out a new feature inspired by TikTok's discovery page.
The company is testing a vertical feed on its app focussed on music discovery. The app will now feature a Discover page alongside its Following page underneath the feed page.
Only a select few users on Android and iOS will be able to utilise the feature for now.
The page will show users songs "based on your listening history and musical taste."
It will also give users insights into why a song has landed on their Discovery page.
Importantly, artists will be able to control which 30 second clips of songs will be featured on the Soundcloud Discovery page.

While Soundcloud utilises an algorithmic approach to music discovery, Spotify is using AI to launch its new DJ feature.
As described by Spotify the tool will, "sort through the latest music and look back at some of your old favorites—maybe even resurfacing that song you haven’t listened to for years. It will then review what you might enjoy and deliver a stream of songs picked just for you. And what’s more, it constantly refreshes the lineup based on your feedback."
They continued, "If you’re not feeling the vibe, just tap the DJ button and it will switch it up. The more you listen and tell the DJ what you like (and don’t like!), the better its recommendations get. Think of it as the very best of Spotify’s personalization—but as an AI DJ in your pocket."
The more that a user uses Spotify the better its algorithm will understand your music tastes. The service has access to habits, mood, the time of day and geolocation data. The AI data will utilise these metrics to give you the best music recommendations.
It uses three significant technologies, including Spotify's personalisation technology which is widely used on the platform to give you music recommendations based on what you like.
