Following the news that Snoop Dogg had acquired Death Row Records, he's announced his plans to make the legacy record label an NFT label.

On discussion/live podcast platform Clubhouse, Snoop stated yesterday, “Death Row will be an NFT label."

"We will be putting out artists through the metaverse. Just like we broke the industry when we was the first independent [label] to be major, I want to be the first major [label] in the metaverse," he said.

This is no surprise for close followers of Snoop Dogg, who has been a massive advocate for cryptocurrencies and the idea of the metaverse.

“If anything is constant, it’s that the music industry will always be changing,” Snoop said.

"Blockchain tech has the power to change everything again and tip the table in favour of the artists and the fans."

The news was made public that Snoop Dogg acquired Death Row Records last week, acquiring the label from MNRK Music Group, which is controlled by private equity funds managed by investment firm Blackstone.

Snoop Dogg will return to Australia later this year, performing at RAC Arena, WA on October 26 before heading to Qudos Bank Arena, NSW on October 28, Rod Laver Arena, Vic on October 29 and Brisbane Entertainment Centre on November 1. For more details, click here.
