Slipknot Profile“Does anyone like heavy metal music?” is an actual question that Cate Blanchett asked fellow actor and heavy metal fan Margot Robbie on a recent episode of The Graham Norton Show.
Robbie, who has made her love for all things heavy music known over the years, appeared on the talk show to promote new film Babylon and ended up taking viewers on a journey that ended in an unexpected Venn diagram that included Slipknot and Neighbours.
The actor said she was “very emo” as a teenager and “listened to only heavy metal music”.
“I would dye my hair black and only cut it with a razor blade,” she added, which is when Blanchett chimed in with, “Does anyone like heavy metal music? Was that something you genuinely liked?”
Robbie responded: “I still genuinely like it.”
“Do you like monster trucks and things like that?” Blanchett then asked, for some reason.
Robbie said the most she’s ever been recognised was at a Slipknot concert while she was on Neighbours.
“I have never had more people come up to me – ever - than at a Slipknot concert. It wasn’t monster trucks and Slipknot, it was Neighbours and Slipknot,” she said.
“It was so unexpected and they were worried about all the characters and ‘is so-and-so’s baby okay?’ They were so invested in Neighbours and Slipknot.”
The fact that Slipknot’s inaugural Knofest Australia sold out its Melbourne leg months in advance suggests that people might like heavy metal music.
The massive touring festival will see Slipknot joined by Parkway Drive, Megadeth, Trivium, Northlane, Amon Amarth, In Flames, Knocked Loose, Spiritbox, Story Of The Year, Alphawolf, Void Of Vision, Bad Omens and Malevolence.
It kicks off at Flemington Racecourse in Melbourne on March 24, before heading to Sydney’s Centennial Park on March 25 and Brisbane’s RNA Showgrounds on March 26.
