Skid Row Postpone Remaining Australian Tour Dates

After Skid Row’s Brisbane show was cancelled earlier this week due to singer Erik Grönwall (ex-H.E.A.T) battling a nasty flu, he soldiered on yesterday (19 May) and put on a show in Sydney.

However, since then, the Swedish singer’s symptoms have only persisted, and the band are rescheduling the remaining dates of their Australian tour.

Making the announcement on social media this morning, the band wrote:

“To the Skid Row faithful in Australia!

“We have some unfortunate news to share regarding our remaining tour dates in Australia.

“First and foremost, we want to apologize [sic] for the cancellation of our initial concert date in Brisbane. We were truly disappointed that we couldn’t perform as planned, and we appreciate your understanding.

“That said, after last night’s show in Sydney, Erik’s flu-like symptoms have persisted. We prioritize [sic] the wellbeing of our band members, and after careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the remaining Australian tour dates.”

The statement continued, “We understand that this is disappointing news, and we share your frustration. This decision is not an easy one. Please know that we are already working swiftly to reschedule these dates as soon as possible. Our management and promoters are actively exploring options, and we will keep you updated on any developments regarding the rescheduled dates.”

For ticketholders, the band ask for your continued patience and support as “all tickets will be honored [sic] for the rescheduled dates.

“We apologize [sic] for any inconvenience and cannot wait to make it up to you in the very near future.”

This is the second time health issues have affected Skid Row’s Australian visit. The glam rock outfit were supposed to visit Australia in December, but due to guitarist David Michael “The Snake” Sabo’s rescheduled neck surgery, the band had no choice but to postpone those dates.

The New Jersey rockers are behind some of the most successful rock hits of 1989 and 1991, with their self-titled album and Slave To The Grind providing the hits 18 And Life, I Remember You, Youth Gone Wild and Monkey Business.

The band had sold 20 million albums worldwide by the end of 1996. The current lineup of Skid Row is made up of Rachel Bolan (bass), Dave “Snake” Sabo, Scotti Hill (guitars) and Rob Hammersmith (drums) and Erik Grönwall. In October, they released the album, The Gang’s All Here. It was the band’s first album in 16 years.
