"It felt super authentic performing this song in that car!”

More Sheppard More Sheppard

Aussie outfit Sheppard are heading in a new direction with their music which has been showcased in their latest single and clip for Catalina, premiering on theMusic.com.au today.

Sparked by a month-long writing session in LA, before being finished in their hometown of Brisbane, Catalina has been a three-year journey for the band.

Check out the clip below.

“The challenge we faced when shooting this music video was that I had a very clear vision of a desert road trip setting," Amy Sheppard told The Music.

"The song is about driving off into the sunset on an interstate highway outside of LA and of course in the current climate, we weren’t travelling anywhere outside of Brisbane. We ended up shooting at the RNA Showgrounds carpark with the twisting highways in the background, and also at the Botanic Gardens at Mt Coot-Tha for the cactus/desert look.

"The car you see in the film clip was owned by this lovely old couple who had actually driven the car back to LA on Route 66 after they bought it, so we realised their story was quite literally the story of the song.

Catalina is the latest single from Sheppard's 'one release per month' project which started back in February.
