Epicure Announce First Australian Tour In 16 Years, Detail New Album

Fans probably never thought they’d see the day: beloved Ballarat band Epicure have shared details about their long-awaited return.

Today, Epicure have announced a national tour – their first in 16 years – as well as details for their forthcoming album, Evenings in Honduras, their first full-length in almost two decades.

In June, the band unleashed the single Is There Any Way Out Now?, offering fans the first taste of their new musical era. The new track, containing punchy guitars and rhythms and a classic refrain, was immediately added to high rotation on Double J and showcases the emotional weight Epicure’s music has always held.

The new album, Evenings in Honduras, is scheduled for release on Friday, 21 August, and is now available to pre-order on vinyl and CD.

The album launch is a hometown show, taking place at Ballarat’s Her Majesty’s Theatre on Saturday, 29 August.

The tour continues at Sydney’s The Lansdowne on Friday, 9 October, Brisbane’s The Brightside on Saturday, 10 October, Adelaide’s The Ed Castle on Friday, 16 October, Fremantle’s Mojo’s on Saturday, 17 October, Melbourne’s Northcote Social Club on Saturday, 24 October, and concludes at the Torquay Hotel on Friday, 30 October.

Epicure largely escaped mainstream success in their career, but records like 2003's The Goodbye Girl and 2005's Main Street were undeniable classics of the era, with the former even cracking the top 100 on the Aussie charts. The band also shared the stage with the likes of Powderfinger, Silverchair, John Butler Trio, Live and Train.

Tracks like Armies Against Me, Life Sentence, Self Destruct In Five, and Tightrope Walker were fixtures of triple j's Hottest 100 countdowns, and they even took part in an early Like A Version session, delivering an unforgettable rendition of The Dead Salesmen’s Bluestoned.

However, in 2010, Epicure fittingly embarked upon their Quietly Into The Night tour and waved goodbye. Now, they’re finally back.
