"celebrate the resilience and determination of our contemporary music industry as it emerges stronger than ever after the past two years of the pandemic"
The SAM Awards are retuning this year to celebrate and recognise the exceptional music scene in South Australia.
The 'night of nights' will be hosted by the stunning new state-of-the-art venue, Hindley Street Music Hall, where MusicSA will announce this year's winners.
This year the award categories are set to recognise both musicians on the stage and those essential workers behind the scenes. Additionally, there is a new focus on regional South Australia with the introduction of the new regional award categories with the ‘Best Regional Venue/Music Activation’ and ‘Best Regional Artist’ being presented at the awards for the first time.
The Australian public is encouraged to nominate their favourite SA musician, band, sound engineer, manager, or even self-nominate. Entries are now open, and you can nominate here.
Last year's winners included Teenage Joans, Tilly Tjala Thomas, Motez and G-Nation.

CEO of MusicSA, Christine Schloithe, is especially excited for the event detailing that, “The SAM Awards are an important and much-loved event for the music industry as we collectively honour the exceptional talent, both on and off the stage, that South Australia boasts. Additionally, it enables us to celebrate the resilience and determination of our contemporary music industry as it emerges stronger than ever after the past two years of the pandemic.
“The talent in South Australia is extraordinary and to adequately reflect that, we encourage as many people as possible to nominate themselves and others who are doing amazing things for music in SA.”
Minister for Arts, Andrea Michaels also chimed in, saying, “The South Australian Government – through the Music Development Office – is once again proud to support the SAM Awards, which recognise the achievements of our state’s most talented musicians, as well as the many outstanding individuals and teams who work tirelessly behind the scenes.
"Those involved in South Australia’s music industry have a significant impact on our culture, wellbeing, and economy and it’s important we celebrate their work and success.
“I wish all those nominating for the SAM Awards the best of luck, and I look forward to meeting many of the finalists at the awards night in Adelaide, Australia’s only UNESCO City of Music.”
Entries for the SAM awards will close on Monday the 3rd of October at 11:59pm.
