"Our community has been big supporters of the band over the last ten years, and this is our way of giving back."
Celebrating a decade of making music together, New South Wales indie rockers The Rubens are heading back to where it all began for a very special show - and they're bringing some mates along for the ride, too.
The band announced today they are putting on their own festival - dubbed ValleyWays - in their hometown of Camden, NSW, next February, to pay tribute to where their formative years took place.
From a slew of award wins to a triple j Hottest 100 number one song with Hoops, the alternative quintet are raring to go, and want to give thanks to the people and places that nurtured them as a band.
"We are so thrilled to be putting on a big outdoor festival in the town we all grew up in!" they said.
"Our community has been big supporters of the band over the last ten years, and this is our way of giving back. ValleyWays will bring the best music to our own backyard, and we hope to do this for many years to come!"
Minister for Jobs, Investment, Tourism and Western Sydney, and Minister for Trade and Industry, Stuart Ayres echoed the sentiment, saying, “ValleyWays will deliver a new cultural experience for the Camden community, diversify the region’s tourism offering and create local jobs. The festival is a boost to the live music culture throughout Western Sydney and gives visitors another reason to add Camden to their calendar of places to visit this summer.”
