Hone your compositional chops at a special one-off program next week

Venerated singer-songwriter Robbie Miller is looking to reciprocate the bountiful love he's received recently at next week's BIGSOUND event in Brisbane, collaborating with fellow musical scribes Woodes and Spencer White (of Morning Harvey) to deliver a special mentoring session at the Music Industry College in Fortitude Valley.

Coming on the heels of a busy and successful 2016 that has seen the acclaimed troubadour knock over a lauded Like A Version cover of Odesza's Say My Name and tour alongside the likes of Josh Pyke and Dustin Tebbutt, the mentoring session will draw on Miller's experience as an Indigenous mentor and project manager at the Australian Indigenous Mentoring Experience (AIME) as well as the creative brains of Woodes and White, creating a unique opportunity for budding songwriters to collaborate with and learn from some of the nation's finest musical scribes.

"When I'm not on stage, I work as an Indigenous mentor and project manager at AIME, and I'm hugely passionate about working with young people to help them harness their creativity," Miller said in a statement.

"I'm inviting any artists who are in town to come along for a songwriting session at MIC. It's right in the middle of the Valley and we're going to have a great time."

Miller, Woodes and White's one-off mentoring session at MIC will be held at 2.30pm on Thursday 8 September; artists who are keen to be a part of the program are encouraged to get in touch with Ground Control Music here.

In the wake of last year's well-received debut EP The Faster The Blood Slows, Miller himself is set to release his eagerly awaited sophomore EP later this year, and will be performing at The Night Before BIGSOUND unofficial pre-event bash at The Foundry on Tuesday 6 September, as well as BIGSOUND's official showcase at Heya Bar on Thursday 8 September from 9.10pm.
