Queensland Music Trails Announces Epic Outback Trail Program

Queensland Music Trails is back for another year with another epic program that spans blues and roots, country, pop, rock, and more. 

Today, the trails have added another unique event to their roster, inviting punters to experience the best of the Queensland outback. The Outback Trail Program, taking place from April 12 to 21, will embrace music, arts and indigenous culture to further tempt you to these small but mighty locations filled with quirk, hardship, and charm. Broaden your senses and experience Queensland in a way you haven't before. 

The collection of five unique experiences includes Oasis Afternoon, Light It Up at the Outback River Lights Festival, The Big Base Party, The Sundowner, and On The Road with The Barleyshakes Duo.

Kicking off the road trip of a lifetime in charming St George is Oasis Afternoon, boasting a lineup filled with rich Aussie talent, including Hussy Hicks, Karl S Williams and Jem-Cassar-Daley. Plus, trailers will get to experience the unforgettable opening performance of Galamaay Dancers. 

“Queensland Music Trails is such an important initiative that benefits our local community and adds vibrancy to our region,” Samantha O’Toole, the Balonne Shire Council Mayor, said. 

The second stop along the trail is a short three-hour drive down the road. Out in Cunnamulla, you’ll be able to catch a female First Nations-led line-up at Light It Up at the Outback River Lights Festival with performances from Emma Donovan & The Putbacks and Alice Skye.

Suzette Beresford, Mayor of Paroo Shire Council, added, “Paroo Shire is excited to be hosting the Qld Music Trails Light It Up concert in Cunnamulla on Saturday 15th April as part of the Outback River Lights Festival. Make sure you arrive a day or two early and join in the free workshops on offer, from lantern making and fire twirling to singing and performing.”

The Charleville leg of the trip at The Big Base Party features headliners C.W. Stoneking & His Primitive Horn Orchestra, Everybody NOW! and The Pacific Belles for the ultimate party experience.  Punters can then head to the final stop of the trail at Tambo for The Sundowner, where Harry James Angus, The Barley Shakes Duo, and Tane Rua will serenade you as the sun sets.
