Following the immense success of Freddie Mercury biopic Bohemian Rhapsody, Queen + Adam Lambert have announced they will return to Australia next year for a very special stadium tour.

'The Rhapsody Tour' will hit the country in February 2020, with shows confirmed in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide and Gold Coast.

"We are ready for Australia and raring to get back with our new show," drummer Roger Taylor said.

Brian May described the new show as a "great opportunity" for the band and Queen fans.

"Our last tour featured our most ambitious production ever and got us our best notices ever," he said.

"So we decided to rip it apart and get even more ambitious!  Watch out, Australia!"

As well as lead actor Rami Malek winning the Oscar for Best Actor and the biopic winning Best Film at the Golden Globes, Bohemian Rhapsody helped Queen resurge on the Australian music charts in a big way.

The Bohemian Rhapsody soundtrack has repeatedly hit top spot on the Albums chart in recent months and regularly feature in the top five, while a number of Queen LPs have also consistently featured in the top ten since the film's release.

Bohemian Rhapsody was the fifth-biggest album of 2018 despite being released in October, while Queen's 1981 Greatest Hits placed at #8. Prior to the 2018 end-of-year charts, Queen had not had a year-end top ten album this century.

Tickets to all of the stadium tour dates go on sale from 10.30am AEST on Monday 15 April. For a look at all of the venues and dates, click on theGuide or scroll down.
