The Jungle GiantsThe Music chooses one song every week as its Power Pick, shining a light on ONE Aussie song that we think has the potential to be the next big Australian chart hit.
Our Power Pick committee consists of Richard Kingsmill (consultant and former triple j Group Music Director), Maddy Rowe (Nova nights announcer), Nic Kelly (Hit Network nights announcer), Ash McGregor (host of Listen Up with Ash McGregor), Kent “Smallzy” Small (Host of ‘The Smallzy Show’ on the Kiis Network), Irene Hulme (radio consultant and host of Game Changers Radio podcast) and Ollie Wards (ex-Head of Music for TikTok Australia).
As The Jungle Giants celebrate their 15th anniversary, the Brisbane quartet are gearing up to release their long-awaited fifth album, Experiencing Feelings Of Joy.
A long-awaited record (dropping five years since their last), the band have been sharing a string of singles which are indicating they might be on the road to another chart-topper.
Just last week, they unveiled the album’s third single – A Moment Like That – and further cemented their status as Aussie hitmakers.
Combining a slick, euphoric chorus with dancefloor ready grooves and the trademark Jungle Giants swagger, A Moment Like That is an electro rave odyssey that is set to become a staple of the live show.
However, despite the outward exuberance, its origins lie within frontman Sam Hales processing a period of turbulence within his life by ultimately envisioning the joy and excitement that lay on the other side of this difficulty.

“It's me backing myself, being in myself again and feeling confident,” Hales explains. “It felt really good to sing like that because I hadn't sung like that in a long time, and it was all coming back.
“Essentially A Moment Like That started to become literally about that moment, about me feeling good about myself again”.
PREVIOUS POWER PICKS
The Aussie showings at the top of the Radio Monitor Hot 100 have fallen somewhat in recent weeks, with the highest local peak being Sonny Fodera's Think About Us at No. 6.
While still an impressive showing, the D.O.D and Poppy Baskcomb was previously a staple of the upper reaches, having previously peaked at the top spot.
Tame Impala’s Dracula is the nearest local cut, sitting at No. 15 this week. It's a bit of a dive to find Amy Shark's The Biggest Dick at No. 29, while Aussies have a back-to-back showing by way of Peking Duk's Rico Nasty-featuring Thrills at No. 33 and Rachael Fahim's Deep End at No. 34.
Fisher and Tones And I's Favour collab sits at No. 38, while Ruel's Don't Say That is at No. 40, followed by the final Aussie in the top 50 – DMA'S' My Baby's Place at No. 43.
While Tame Impala's Dracula sits at No. 5 on the ARIA Singles chart as the highest-ranking Aussie cut, the Australian Singles chart is a strong showing of prior Power Picks.
While Fodera's Think About Us is at No. 2, Dean Turnley's previous Power Pick Actin' Tough sits at a very respectable No. 3, while Dom Dolla's rework of Puretone's Addicted To Bass is at No. 4 – one place higher than Fisher and Tones And I’s Favour.
