The Music chooses one song every week as its Power Pick, shining a light on ONE Aussie song that we think has the potential to be the next big Australian chart hit.

Our Power Pick committee consists of Richard Kingsmill (consultant and former triple j Group Music Director), Maddy Rowe (Nova nights announcer), Nic Kelly (Hit Network nights announcer), Ash McGregor (host of Listen Up with Ash McGregor), Kent “Smallzy” Small (Host of ‘The Smallzy Show’ on the Kiis Network), Irene Hulme (radio consultant and host of Game Changers Radio podcast) and Ollie Wards (ex-Head of Music for TikTok Australia).

He’s smack bang in the middle of a stellar purple patch, and now Sonny Fodera has jumped at the opportunity to ride some serious momentum, having just released his latest single, My Loving.

Officially dropping on February 26th, the track is the first new piece of original music issued by the Adelaide-born, London-based artist this year.

Featuring English singer Chrystal on vocals, it’s a feel-good piece of work that adopts a slick beat and a powerful drop to continue Fodera’s impressive run of success in recent months.

“From the moment I heard Chrystal’s vocal, I knew this had to be the next single,” Fodera was reported as saying of the track. “Her voice and artistry is genuinely insane and it’s so good to be working with her.”

Previous Power Picks

Fodera’s status as this week’s Power Pick follows on from an impressive showing on the Radio Monitor Hot 100 chart, which last week saw him at #1 with Think About Us.

This feat was even more impressive given it made him the first Australian act to top the chart since 2024, having just beaten out Bruno Mars with his tune – itself a collaboration with British producer D.O.D. and vocalist Poppy Baskcomb.

This week, it’s dropped down to a respectable #4, the highest local act until Tame Impala’s Dracula at #14. It’s bare on the Aussie front until Guy Sebastian’s 100 Times Around The Sun at #27, though Yes Boone’s All I Really Want sneaks to #31 ahead of last week’s Power Pick – Mia Wray's When We Were Young at #33.

The run to the top 50 is fertile ground for Aussies, with Rum Jungle's Coal Dust at #41 and Blusher's Rager at #42. Genesis Owusu's Stampede sits at #44, while prior Power Pick Fisher's Rain is at #46. CYRIL and Maryjo score the #48 spot with Still Into You, which Peach PRC is the final Aussie in the top 50, with Back To You at #49.
