Phil Spector has died at age 81.
As reported by The Guardian, Spector died "of natural causes at 6.35pm on Saturday 16 January 2021, at an outside hospital". It has also been reported that Spector contracted COVID-19 four weeks ago.
The California Department Of Corrections & Rehabilitation has added that "his official cause of death will be determined by the medical examiner in the San Joaquin county sheriff’s office".
The producer died while serving a prison sentence for murdering actress Lana Clarkson in 2003. Clarkson was shot while at Spector's home in Los Angeles just hours after meeting at the House Of Blues.
Prior to his conviction, Spector was known for his work with artists like Ike & Tina Turner, Leonard Cohen, Ramones, The Ronettes, Righteous Brothers and more, and is credited for creating the 'Wall Of Sound' production style.
He served as the producer on The Beatles' final album, Let It Be, in 1970 before working with the likes of John Lennon and George Harrison on their solo projects.

Spector was convicted for the murder of Clarkson in 2009 following a retrial of the case that was originally presented and was declared a mistrial due to a hung jury in 2007.
