Promoter claims rapper's social media outburst has been sorted

More The Game More The Game

Confusion over a tour payment has threatened to derail The Game's upcoming Australian tour, with the American hip hop star taking to social media to blast the promoter who's now claimed to theMusic.com.au that “all has been resolved.”

According to FasterLouder the rapper expressed that he was, “extremely disappointed the promoter has failed to deliver on his obligations” in a post that has now been deleted, and claimed artist payments were outstanding.

The tour was originally meant to kick off at Melbourne's Espy tonight, but the release released a statement last night saying that they had “been instructed by the promoter… that the concert on Thursday 22 August will not take place and is in the process of being rescheduled.”

Today Fady Atalla from promoter Hip Hop TV told theMusic that the Melbourne show has been rescheduled to Tuesday 10 September, and that the tour is “back on track”. The show scheduled for Wollongong's Grand Hotel on Saturday 24 August has also been disrupted, however.

“Basically there was a final payment due to The Game and it took a while to reach the account,” Atalla said, adding that The Game's team “jumped the gun” in taking to social media. He expects official word will be released this afternoon.

He added that he was concerned for the reputation of his partners in the Australian tour in the wake of the outburst.

“My reputation's one thing, but there's the other people involved that I'm concerned about,” he said.

Hip hop hasn't been the happiest of stomping grounds for promoters this year, with even the inaugural Movement Festival – backed by two of Australia's most respected promoters – failing to get off the ground.
