As longtime Paramore fans know, that moment would have meant a lot to Hayley Williams – the pop-punk icons covered My Hero back in 2006.

Foo Fighters and Paramore melted hearts on Father’s Day in the northern hemisphere with a joyous rendition of the former group’s most popular hits, My Hero, during their headlining slot at Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival in Manchester, Tennessee, on Sunday (18 June).

Earlier that day, the Misery Business singer wished the massive audience a “happy Dad’s Day”, and after receiving some boos, she said, “I think I heard some boos, I get it… But, like… I can be your daddy.” Little did anyone in that crowd know that she’d perform My Hero with everyone’s favourite Dad band that night.

Foo Fighters’ headlining hit-filled set included All My Life, Best Of You, Learn To Fly, The Pretender and many more. Williams’ infectiously energetic cameo arrived 12 songs into the set and stunned concertgoers. You can check out the footage below.

As longtime Paramore fans know, that moment would have meant a lot to Hayley Williams – the pop-punk icons covered My Hero back in 2006.

Their cover was part of the Sound Of Superman companion album to the soundtrack for Superman Returns, which featured more emo acts such as The Academy Is…, Jack’s Mannequin, Motion City Soundtrack and more covering superhero-related tracks. Paramore’s My Hero is also on the band’s B-sides collection, alongside a cover of U2’s Sunday Bloody Sunday.

Yesterday, Paramore started teasing an upcoming Australian tour following weeks of rumours. Taking to all their social media accounts, the US pop-punk legends posted a photo with black text on a white background, stating, "6.27 – g’day." They also included a link to a mailing list routing to paramoredownunder.com. Stay tuned for more details.

Foo Fighters will also return to Australia soon, confirming a second and final show in Melbourne after the pre-sale met unprecedented demand.

The tour comes in support of the Foos’ just-released 11th album, But Here We Are, which earned a 4.5-star review from The Music. In it, Stephen Green wrote that Grohl “has created a pop-rock opus, delivering complex emotion through simple lyrics and melodies in a way that hits directly at the heart”.

Reviewing their one-off show in Geelong last March, TheMusic’s Madison Thomas wrote: “After a set so enthusiastic, so unbelievably tight, so goddamned energetic, it’s hard to imagine the Foos have anything left in the tank. This is proven not to be the case as they go on to shred All My Life, This Is A Call, Best Of You, and Monkey Wrench back to back in a blistering wander through their back catalogue.”
