The West Australian New Year's festival has moved to an idyllic new location and gotten a whole lot bigger.
There are plenty of New Year's Eve festivals all across the country every year, and this year Western Australia's Origin festival have stepped up their game and really made a push to be one of the biggest events of all. Heading south to Fairbridge Village in Pinjarra for 2012/13, the festival has some mighty names in the world of bass music and a seriously amazing location in which to hold the event.
Chase & Status (DJ Set), Knife Party, Gaslamp Killer, Shockone, Gemini, Pearson Sound, DMZ (Coki & Mala), Goldie, Ben UFO, Brookes Brothers, Ed Rush, Pariah, Wilkinson, Marky & Stamina, Skism, Sigma, Delta Heavy, XXXY, New York Transit Authority, Dillinja, Inspector Dubplate, Metrik, Jakes, Dodge & Fuski, DC Breaks, Mensah, Bar9, Distance, Dark Sky, Om Unit
CHASE & STATUS:
Don't miss a beat with our FREE daily newsletter
One of the UK's biggest bass acts Chase & Status play an exclusive Australian show over New Year's at Origin.
KNIFE PARTY:
The hometown boys are back! With Pendulum no longer an ongoing concern, it's up to Knife Party to represent Perth's bass scene and they have been doing a pretty fucking good job of it so far!
GASLAMP KILLER:
He's one of the hottest underground hip hop DJs on the scene right now; everyone wants a piece of the Gaslamp Killer and seeing as his debut album drops this month, you'd imagine demand is only going to get greater by the time he's destroying the stage at Origin.
SHOCKONE:
Another local done good, this guy has brought the party to any Perth clubber worth their salt many times over the years and it'd just be plain wrong not to see him on this massive bill. ShockOne match it with the big guns at Origin for sure.
GEMINI:
This young fellow is pretty new to the game, but he's been getting plenty of props in his native UK for the four EPs he's released in the past 18 months or so. We're excited to see what Gemini can bring in a live sense!
PEARSON SOUND:
David Kennedy has done a lot of cool things; opened for Radiohead, remixed a Fabriclive comp, lectured at the Red Bull Music Academy and DJ'd on the London Eye to name just a few. This New Year's Eve he plays Origin under his Pearson Sound moniker; could it be his finest work to date?
GOLDIE:
Goldie is a true veteran of the electronic music game, but that doesn't make him any less relevant. The 46-year-old is a DJ, an actor and a visual artist, but it's his contributions to the worlds of drum'n'bass and Jungle that will remain the most important in our eyes. It's always a treat to hear him perform and Origin will be no exception.
The event will be held on Sunday 30 December through to the wee hours of Tuesday 1 January at the aforementioned Fairbridge Village. It is a camping event (camping price is included with your ticket) and there are a very limited number of earlybird tickets available right now through The Big Ape.
Stay tuned for the second announcement which will drop at the beginning of next month.
