Northlane, In Hearts Wake Might Get Teased For Their Favourite Collabs But Don’t Care

"I didn't think he'd ever to be able to keep up with MJ. I was wrong."

Combining forces for a massive co-headline tour next month and accompanying EP, collaboration has consumed the creative energy of Aussie heavyweights Northlane and In Hearts Wake for the past few months.

As the tour looms closer, Northlane’s Marcus Bridge and In Heart Wake’s Ben Nairne give us their top collaborations of all time, throwing in some interesting surprises along the way.

Marcus Bridge – Northlane

Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney - Say Say Say

As much of a legend as Paul McCartney is, I didn't think he'd ever to be able to keep up with MJ. I was wrong.

Say Anything - In Defense Of The Genre

This double album has about 20 guest vocalists on it but the thing I loved about this album was trying to find the more subtle features, there's a song with Aaron Gillespie (Underoath/The Almost) in it and I still can't find him.

Go Radio - Forever My Father

Jason Lancaster wrote this song about his dad after he passed away and features his siblings, Erin and Daniel. You can feel the emotion and passion in all of their voices, coming together to celebrate their father.

Kanye West feat. Jay Z, Bon Iver, Rick Ross and Nicki Minaj - Monster

This is a pure ego jam, but Nicki Minaj's verse in this song is fire.

Horrorshow feat. Jane Tyrrell - In My Haze

I love the vibe of this song. Their voices blend together so well as Tyrrell octaves the mellow melody of MC Solo. It's just a different kind of vibe from Horrorshow that I'd love to hear more of.

Ben Nairne – In Hearts Wake

Coldplay - Princess Of China feat. Rihanna

I'm probably going to get teased for this one because no one seems to like Coldplay, but I love them. Rihanna nails her guest vocal in the song and she's even in the film clip and plays a really good part.

Flume - Never Be Like You feat. Kai

I didn't know if Flume could back up his debut self-titled album but after releasing this track as the first single from his upcoming album I think it's going hit the mark. Kai nails her vocals on the track and Flume does such a good job of moulding her voice to fit the track.

In Hearts Wake - Intrepid

Not only does this track feature Marcus from Northlane, but what a lot of people might not know is that the guitar solo in the middle of the song is actually performed by Nick Hipa of Wovenwar (ex-As I Lay Dying). We are all huge fans of both bands and grew up listening to AILD so it was really cool for us that he did the guest solo.

Young Lions - Keep Learning

In this track there's a female vocalist that comes in about half way through and it sounds amazing. She sings on her own for a while and then Zach Britt joins in and their voices work so well together, the only thing is I don't actually know who she is and haven't been able to find anything about it!

Parkway Drive - Romance Is Dead

The track itself doesn't actually have a vocal collaboration but a few months ago Parkway played Romance Is Dead at Unify. Crafter from Confession had just played one of his last ever shows when Winston invited him up on stage for a guest vocal. Those two guys have known each other since way back in the day when Parkway actually used to support Crafters old band I Killed The Prom Queen. It was so good to see two old mates up on stage having the best time together after all these years.
