The legendary King Crimson guitar maestro has pulled out.
It could be hard to keep track of Nine Inch Nails in the lead up to their much-anticipated return both as a recorded and live band, as today we hear of yet another departure from the live band.
Adrian Belew, whose work as one of the leading members of prog-rock gods King Crimson and contributions to music from the likes of Frank Zappa, Talking Heads and David Bowie have made him one of the most revered guitarists in modern music, was one of the most exciting additions to the Nine Inch Nails line up. But today it appears that his involvement with the band has ceased rather promptly.
On his Facebook page today, Belew had very little to say about the matter:

Though Consequence Of Sound have today reported that Belew made a longer statement earlier, which has since been deleted.
“hey folks, before this goes too far let me say this: I greatly respect trent and the music he makes. no one is at fault. we both agreed it just was not working. I'm sorry to disappoint anyone. that really hurts. but NIN will do an amazing show and I am back where I belong: creating FLUX.”
He's not the first member to skip out, with Jane's Addiction bassist Eric Avery opting out of the group very quickly after its formation, citing an overwhelming tour schedule as the reason behind his decision.
No doubt Trent Reznor won't have too many problems filling the empty spot, but losing Belew is a real shame as he is one of the great innovative guitarists of the modern day.
Yesterday Reznor released the first taste of the first Nine Inch Nails record in five years:
