The early morning grind is significantly worsened by the deafening and incessant beeping of people scanning in and out of train stations and bus stations here in Australia, so you can only imagine the magnitude of the beeping in a much more extensive public transport network like the New York City subway system.
Well, one man has had enough, and that man is the living legend, JAMES MURPHY. The former frontman of dance pioneers LCD Soundsystem and the label head of DFA Records now has a new project in mind, and wants to re-program subway turnstyles to play specific tones he has composed himself.
Although facing opposition from the city, Murphy is not taking no for an answer, and has teamed up with beer company Heineken to recruit support from NYC residents. First taking on NYC, then the world, the joining forces of these two powerhouses can only mean good things.
For more information and to show your support for the project, you can head to SubwaySymphony.Heineken.com and join James Murphy in "Making the City a Slightly Nicer Place to Be."
