Acclaimed Australian songstress Clairy Browne and her backing band The Bangin' Rackettes have racked up yet another distinction in their career after an advertisement for JCPenney soundtracked by their popular cut Love Letter made its debut during the US Academy Awards broadcast today (AEST).
The advertisement — the result of a deal that comes after much hard work from the good folks in local publishing house Native Tongue's American division — teams Browne's distinctly soulful strains and undeniable sass with some seriously stylish suit-wearers, its breezy claps and boisterous horns providing the perfect backing for a 30-second slice of the slick and fashionable.
Last year over 40 million people tuned into the Oscars telecast.

This isn't the first time one of Browne's songs has been recognised for its marketability outside of a purely musical setting; in fact, Love Letter itself was the song of choice for a wildly successful worldwide campaign for Heineken, as well as being snapped up for use by Hyundai in Korea last year, while - in addition to bits and pieces in the States on various TV programs, I'll Be Fine (also from the band's 2013 debut full-length Baby Caught The Bus) has been the theme song for Josh Thomas comedy Please Like Me since its inception, a relationship that looks set to continue in the wake of the show being optioned for a third series in the US.
