Baroness announce headline shows
While here later in the year supporting Metallica, hard rockers Baroness have announced they will take time out to play three Australian headline shows in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. The Savannah quartet will be stirring up a storm at these shows while showcasing the monolithic blend of sludge rock, doom and progressive metal from their 2007 debut, Red Album, and 2009 follow-up, Blue Record. “Baroness are not a group of young gentlemen trying their hand at gloomy alternative rock for the first time, but more seasoned veterans who have honed their skills over the years which really shows in their well received sophomore release “Blue Record”- Killyourstereo. Baroness and Lamb of God will also support Metallica during the October/November leg of their 2010 Australian tour (Fear Factory and The Sword will fill the support slots during Metallica’s September shows). Despised Icon announce Australian tour
Canadian deathcore giants Despised Icon are set to hit Australian shores for the first time. The tour to Australia will sadly be a part of the band's final world tour before they split. Formed in 2002 the Montreal six-piece have become a major force in contemporary death metal. With six releases under their belts and having toured the world with the likes of The Black Dahlia Murder, Behemoth, Hatebreed and Parkway Drive, Despised Icon have decided to call it quits.“It’s hard to believe we started this band almost 10 years ago already. At first, Despised Icon was mostly just an excuse to hang out, write brutal slam riffs and play local shows once in a while,” says the band of their break up. “With your support, we got the opportunity to actually play music for a living, make friends around the world, be MVPs and travel to places we never even dreamed of visiting in our lifetime.”

Cancer Bats add Australian sideshows
They’ve birthed a grimy hardcore giant and hailed a more metal-centric destroyer, but in 2010, Cancer Bats dropped their heaviest and deadliest offering to date with’ Bears, Mayors, Scraps & Bones’. Not only will they be bringing their rhythmic ferocity on stage alongside heavy weights Bullet for My Valentine and Bring Me the Horizon in September, but Cancer Bats are treating their fans with additional shows added to the Australian leg of the tour. Their new album Mayors, Scraps & Bones' sees them at their most ferocious and is "Crusty, jarring and still as acerbic as ever, this is Cancer Bats at their best" - Rock Sound. That’s not to say their earlier albums were anything but blistering collections of balls-out rock, because, as anyone who’s shared some blood, sweat, or beers at a Bats show will attest, that sure as hell isn’t the case. Fueled by a burning desire to rage harder, play louder and have more fun than any other band, Cancer Bats are used to turning venues into roll...

Behemoth post new video
Behemoth have posted an uncensored version of the video to their song “Alas, Lord Is Upon Me”. The track comes off the band’s latest album, Evangelion. Behemoth singer Nergal (Adam Darksi) had this to say about the new video: "First of all, we've overcome ourselves with this new video clip. Period. It's something we've wanted to do for a very long time. Pretty much no digital intervention, no blue boxes, no fake shit this time, but great filming, good acting, and a fuckin' awesome storyline. It's disturbing, crazy, and evil. We've had over 70 people working for us on this video so we can easily say it was the biggest production so far. I'm beyond excited! Wait and see…" Fans can view the video for “Alas, Lord Is Upon Me” here. In other news, the face paint-clad front man Nergal was recently rushed to hospital with a “serious illness”.
