Music Victoria Awards Announce 2014 Genre Nominees

Fifty-five of the nation's best and brightest get the nod

The annual Age/Music Victoria Awards have announced their full list of genre nominees for 2014, with a grand total of 55 acts up for the honours across the event's many categories.

Several high-profile artists and bands have a shot at being recognised this year, including Best Country Album nominees Tracy McNeil (also up for Best Folk/Roots album, for Nobody Ever Leaves) and Wagons, Best Soul/Funk/R&B/Gospel Album candidates Oscar Key SungSaskwatch and The Bamboos, and Best Jazz Album contenders Julien Wilson TrioTilman Robinson and the Black Jesus Experience (whose Migration is also up for Best Global/Reggae Album).

 
 

Joining those names on the list of nominees are the likes of Best Hip-Hop Album finalists BriggsL-FRESH The Lion and RemiChet Faker, Client Liaison and Will Sparks among the Best Electronic Act nods; CeresClosure in Moscow and The Bennies for Best Heavy Album; Best Indigenous Act hopefuls Kutcha EdwardsPhilly and Skin Choir; and The Bombay Royalewhose The Island of Dr Electrico scored them the nom for Best Global/Reggae Album.
