“It’ll become, I believe, the biggest selling vinyl in recent Australian history."

Anzac Day TV concert Music From The Home Front dominated ratings back in April and its accompanying CD release in June soared to the top of the ARIA Albums chart, so it’s not surprising the man behind the ambitious endeavour - Australian music industry legend Michael Gudinski - went all out for its vinyl release.

The limited-edition triple vinyl, which is out today, captures a moment “etched in Australian history” and features performances from the likes of Jimmy Barnes, Crowded House, Tones & I, DMA'S, Missy Higgins, Tim Minchin and more.

The Home Front was a dream come true,” Gudinski, who was named the 2019 Power 50’s most influential figure in Australian music, told The Music.

“The whole thing about that show was the artists’ integrity. The show came together better than anyone expected and it was an amazing task. It’s things like that that really distract you in tough times.

“The [vinyl release] weighs nearly a kilo and it’s taken a while because we wanted to get the top quality pressing. It’s in Australian colours.

“It’ll become, I believe, the biggest selling vinyl in recent Australian history. The event has just lived on, and how we pulled it off in nine days was just something that I’ll never forget and has been the catalyst that led into these other programs.”

After Music From The Home Front aired, Gudinski launched weekly isolation series The State Of Music in May, before The Sound on ABC in July.

“Australian music has been my life and it’s been good to me and I’m just so pleased to give something back,” Gudinski said.

“Let’s face it, we have a real problem with spots for Australian artists on television here because we don’t have the Graham Nortons, the American 'tonight' shows, we don’t have places where older and younger acts of all types can play their new song."

Music From The Home Front is available to purchase on vinyl now, with profits being donated to Support Act. Head here for all the info.
