Queens Of The Stone AgeQueens Of The Stone Age’s Josh Homme doesn’t like being told what to do.
Consequence of Sound reports that, upon performing at the 65,000-capacity stadium Ford Field last Thursday (6 August) – the band are currently opening for Foo Fighters on their Take Cover tour – Homme defied the venue’s strict no-smoking policy.
But by the time Queens Of The Stone Age approached the end of their set, Homme seemed to no longer care about the stadium’s rules, lighting up a cigarette before launching into A Song for the Dead. Additionally, he encouraged fans not to let “corporate assholes” decide what others can and can’t do.
“Don’t let these fuckin’ corporate assholes tell you what to do, do whatever the fuck you want,” Homme said. “Fuck that shit. You paid for parking, and you’re paying for overpriced drinks, these fucking scalpers. Fuck having some corporation tell you what the fuck to do, you guys do what you want!”
Lighting the cigarette, he concluded, “And fuck Flock cameras too.” Check out the footage below.
As Consequence of Sound notes, it’s unclear whether or not Queens Of The Stone Age received a $10,000 fine for smoking at the stadium.
Last week, the band launched their own complaint line, advising fans to “Call the Queens Of The Stone Age complaint hotline and get heard.”
According to fans on social media, those who call the hotline are offered two options: to leave a complaint or not leave a complaint.
Those who choose the latter are reminded they must then be having a great day, while those who air their grievances by choosing the former are then told that “Someone in our team will respond as soon as we give a fuck.”
