Showing no residual feelings for perhaps a Super Bowl snub, Metallica recently performed a headline show in their hometown.
Billed as 'The Night Before [the Super Bowl]', the Bay Area icons played to a sold-out AT&T Park, home of the San Francisco Giants. A petition initially circulated last year, which attempted to have the band perform at today's Super Bowl half-time show, which was held at Santa Clara in the South Bay.
Subsequently, Metallica streamed the entire two-and-a-half hour performance, which they also promoted as 'Too Heavy for Halftime'.
"We appreciate this turnout. 'Too Heavy for Halftime' that's what we're calling this. I don't know if you agree or not? I know there was a petition going around and all that stuff, [but] I think it all works out for a reason. We get to play a whole show in front of a lot more live people, and we get to represent the Bay Area for heavy music," vocalist James Hetfield said.

Equally, during the show, Hetfield mentioned the band's new album is near complete.
