Naarm/Melbourne punk duo Another Rotting Corpse have shared their latest album, releasing Soaring Highs, Crushing Lows into the world recently.

The new album comes after a multi-year hiatus for the group, who broke their silence last year with the release of their Exchange For Safe Passage EP. This four-track release arrived following the release of their self-titled debut album in 2019, which in turn was the result of numerous years spent as fixtures of the local Melbourne music scene.

Far removed from the deathcore sound that their name might imply, the punk duo – comprising guitarist/vocalist Ant and drummer/backing vocalist Nath – have made a name for themselves thanks to their raw energy and high intensity both on and off the stage.

With their electrifying live performances pairing well with their thought-provoking music, Another Rotting Corpse are something of an enigma within the music scene. While blistering riffs and powerful vocals live up to the punk ethos that the group put forth, their lyrical focus is one that is uniquely Australian, with their razor-sharp lyrics focusing on the highs and lows of life.

Along the way, however, there’s a distinctly unique blend of nerdy pop-culture references thrown into the mix. While recent single Icy Manipulator took its name from a card in Magic: The Gathering, other tracks show their knowledge of oft-forgotten pop culture, including Mr Hands Had Big Plans and the overlooked film Safe (1995) Starring Julianne Moore.

Meanwhile, the Australian edge isn’t forgotten, thanks to cuts such as Kebab Shop Behind The Bendi, which speaks to just about every Melbourne music fan who has found themselves catching a late-night gig in Collingwood.

Another Rotting Corpse have recently launched their album with a headline show in Melbourne, though they'll be performing again this weekend with a free show at Fitzroy's Creatures Of Habit alongside Duckeye, The Murderballs, Gwen In Doubt, and more.

Another Rotting Corpse’s Soaring Highs, Crushing Lows is out now.
