“Over the next month we are winding down our tenure."
Melbourne institution New Guernica has announced it will be relocating.
The beloved club has hosted a slew of big names both international and local over the past 12 years, including Jamie xx, Marshall Jefferson, Miguel Miggs and Stacey Pullen, but with its lease set to expire soon, owners have revealed that the Little Collins Street building in which it’s currently housed is set to be demolished.
It’s been confirmed that a boutique hotel will take its place.
“Over the next month we are winding down our tenure at the city haunt that New Guernica has long called home,” reads a statement on Facebook.
“We’re looking forward to sharing a last dance with you as our smoke machines run dry and our lasers fade. Uhha, those all-night sweaty benders are coming to an end (well, just for a short while anyway).
“There are so many people to thank, from our local and international artists to all the crews we’ve worked with since 2009. Also, would like to thank all the amazing staff and our diverse and awesome partygoers who made New Guernica their second home over these years too.

The popular Melbourne venue was also visited by Solange in 2009, who hung out there during a Midnight Juggernauts DJ set when she was in the country collaborating with them on what was then reportedly her third album.
It’s expected that New Guernica will announce its final parties in the coming weeks - keep an eye on theGuide for all upcoming event announcements.
No details have been given yet on where it may relocate to.
