Festival will donate proceeds to aid mental health body beyondblue

On Saturday, May 31, Melbourne musos will join together with Australian mental health body beyondblue for non-profit festival Raising The Reverence, which is designed to raise funding and awareness in the fight against suicide and mental illness.

The festival, to be held at the Reverence Hotel, will feature several renowned Melburnian bands, including New Gods, Kashmere Club, Alice, Ships Piano, and Will Bracks, with more artists yet to be announced.

According to beyondblue, it is estimated that 45 per cent of Australians will experience a mental health condition in their lifetime.

About 1 million Australian adults have depression, and more than 2 million have anxiety, the organisation says, while suicide is the leading cause of death in men under the age of 45 and women under 35, with at least six Australians taking their own lives each day.
