As Terminal V wrapped its nine-year run at Edinburgh’s Royal Highland Centre, festival organisers have teased what’s to come for the event, including making its debut in Australia.

In a press release, the festival’s nine years in Edinburgh were spotlighted, with a focus on how it has shaped Scotland’s booming electronic music landscape. In recent years, organisers have taken the major event to Croatia and London, successfully expanding and hosting world-class dance artists to tens of thousands of punters.

“While this edition marks the end of Terminal V’s time in Edinburgh, the festival’s evolution continues at pace,” the statement continued, before indicating that its Australian debut is “imminent.”

“Plans are already in place for a new Scottish location in 2027, alongside a global programme of events, including the imminent launch of Terminal V Australia, marking a significant new chapter in the brand’s international expansion,” the statement reads.

While there isn’t much information, the successful expansion to other cities and Australia’s embrace of festivals including ULTRA, Beyond The Valley, Lost Paradise, and Transmission, among others, make Australia the ideal country to host another international edition of the event.

After nine years at the Royal Highland Centre, Terminal V is moving to another location in 2027. This year’s event - held on Saturday, 18 and Sunday, 19 April - featured acts including Sara Landry, Klangkuenstler, Mall Grab, Robert Hood, Restricted, Ben Hemsley, Vieze Asbak and many others.

“Nine years ago, we had a vision for what Terminal V could be, and Edinburgh gave us the platform to realise it,” commented festival co-founder Derek Martin. “Closing this chapter is bittersweet, but watching so many people share this weekend with us made it feel like the celebration it deserved to be.

“This might be the end of one era, but we are excited about what is coming next. 2027 will also mark our 10th anniversary, as well as a new, exciting chapter for Terminal V.”

Co-founder Simon McGrath added, “The standard of this weekend is the benchmark we’ll take with us. We never compromise, and we never will. What comes next for Terminal V will be bigger and more ambitious than anything we’ve done before.”
